Portuguese Jewelery X MAAT : ReShape_ ReThink_ReAct
A AORP renews partnership with MAAT – Museum of Art, Architecture and Technologyae come together again for an initiative where sustainability is the protagonist and invites 6 Portuguese jewelery brands – including Clelia jewelry – for sale and exhibition, at the MAAT store and Electricity Museum.
This new partnership began in June 2021 and ends with the exhibition and sale of pieces by Clelia Jewelery, between the months of April and June 2022.
These two entities meet, once again and this time with the constant obligation to combat waste and reinvent the present, the partnership RESHAPE. Inspired by the incorporation of reused and recycled materials, distinct collections of contemporary jewelery are born, with a disruptive character.
On a walk along the river it is impossible to remain indifferent to the magnitude of Maat. With an imposing dimension and wavy peak, it embraces the Tagus River, bringing to the present the memory of our maritime history, carried on the prows of the magnificent wooden ships and caravels that sailed there in search of other peoples, cultures and riches. The ripple of the Tagus and the roof of the building were the inspiration to develop this special edition with a sustainable character “TAGUS”. Unique, hand-carved pieces that reflect the balance between the rough and the elegant, characteristic of a new modernity.
In this challenge, VICARA, a design and culture agency based in Caldas da Rainha, was chosen as a partner. After some research and experimentation, carob wood was the material chosen to create this mini collection. These woods are used in the lids of the “Cerne” glass decanter, and developed by the artist Samuel Reis, pieces that were going to be unusable and thus gain a new life and a new meaning in the world of jewellery.
It was in wood that I found the durability, strength and versatility I wanted, adding silver as a noble and contemporary element.
The inauguration took place on November 23, 2021, in the MAAT building, where the pieces are on display and for sale, to the public, until June 2022.
